Ten miles northeast of Soldotna, sport fishing and outdoor recreation activities abound in the town of Sterling. It is a highway community with a number of businesses that accommodate the sport fishing industry and the outdoor buffs who arrive in the summer. The Kenai and Moose Rivers intersect here and there are numerous camping and fishing opportunities at Alaska State Park recreation areas such as Morgan’s Landing, Scout Lake, and the Swanson River Canoe Trails.
